Sketching & Watercolor: Journal Style
with San Diego artist, Jane LaFazio
July 21-24, 2011 in Utah
Be inspired to record your life, a special trip, or your daily adventures in a loose, quick journal style format. We’ll spend most of our days outside, in the beautiful Utah countryside, drawing and painting the details of the area~the green thistles, the wild daisies, the rocks down by the lake, the scenic mountains from the deck.
No drawing experience is necessary, Jane will teach you in her friendly, encouraging teaching style. She will demonstrate drawing and watercolors using a straight-forward, intuitive approach. You’ll choose simple objects, vignettes or vistas to draw and paint, and then journaling your thoughts impressions on 5x7” pages. We’ll create a collaged portfolio to keep your pages in, as a meaningful record of your time in Utah.

• Fabriano Acquarello 100% cotton hot press watercolor paper 140llb (5x7” block),(
• Faber-Castell Pitt artist pen, superfine nib in black,
• Prang student watercolors (or travel set of watercolor of your choice)
• Niji Waterbrush (medium)
• Pencil
• eraser (Kneaded eraser)
• small camp stool or folding chair.
• sun hat
• sun block

“Everyday Matters” and “An Illustrated Life: Drawing Inspiration from the Private Sketchbooks of Artists, Illustrators and Designers,” both by Danny Gregory



COSTS: All inclusive 4/day, 3/night retreat = $850

TO REGISTER: Send your $150 deposit now. Make your checks out to Dianne Streifer and mail them to 752 Adella Avenue, Coronado, California 92118
The remaining $700 will be due May 15th. If you cancel prior to May 15th, we will refund half of your deposit ($75). No refunds will be made after July 1, 2011. We reserve the right to cancel if a minimum of participants haven’t registered by June 1, 2011, in which case you will receive a full refund.
